World class UAS piloting and autonomous system integration and testing
World class UAS piloting and autonomous system integration and testing
With years of experience in both conventional and experimental UAS vehicle piloting, testing, and regulatory support, Maximum UAS has the expertise you need to maximize the efficiency and return on investment from your commercial UAS operations.
MaximumUAS was founded by Louis Joshua "Josh" Glaab. Josh has been flying Radio Controlled (R/C) model aircraft since 1971. In 1976 I discovered competition R/C Sailplanes and became totally immersed in this amazing sport. The beauty and magic of finding invisible thermals and riding them is completely addictive to me. I joined NASA in 1986 and had my first professional flying experience in 1990 flying a research sailplane released from a carrier airplane. Several other smaller R/C projects were completed over the following 10 years. During this time, I was in the Flight Dynamics Branch at NASA LaRC and acquired 9 years experience in flight dynamics, control systems, stability and control. In 2000 I joined the Airborne Subscale Transport Aircraft Research (AirSTAR) project where I served as Chief Plot and Safety pilot performing all takeoffs and landings and also providing safety oversight for the research portions of the flight tests. The T-2 research vehicle was a 55 lb twin turbine powered transport aircraft and shot the approach at 80 mph. After AirSTAR I spent a lot of time in the UAS Traffic Management (UTM) project developing the patented Safe2Ditch contingency management system and leading extensive integrated autonomous system testing. In 2020 I became the Tech Lead for the High Density Vertiplex (HDV) project. The HDV project endeavored to prototype and assess an Urban AIr Moblity Ecosystem including vertiport automation system using sUAS as surrogates for larger envisioned UAM vehicle. HDV successfully operated 5 sUAS simultaneously as well as performed real No Visual Observer (NOVO) Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations. I have more than 20 years experienve performing integrated autonomous system testing, 10 years of Human Factors experience, as well as 9 years of Entry Descent and Landing experience. I am anticipating retiring in September of 2025 from my 38 year career at NASA LaRC and am looking to provide my extensive expertise to help move the UAS industry forward. I am a Part-107 pilot and a FAA Certificated Flight Instructor for Sailplanes as well as being IFR Rated.
